Demonstrators of Gagauzia demand to turn administrative territorial unit into republic

About 2 thousand representatives of the opposition Parties and movements of Moldova participated in a protest meeting against the central authorities' interference in the activities of the Gagauz National Assembly. This meeting was staged on Saturday in the center of Comrat. It was initiated by the Joint Gagauzia movement.
The protesters were holding slogans: "No - to the Discrimination of the Gagauz people!", "The Communists Put their Party interest above the People's Interests!", "We Support the Uniting of all Gagauzia's Patriots!".
The demonstrators approved a Resolution, which calls upon the autonomy's residents for uniting around the acting People's democratic power.
In particular, the protestors decided to appeal to the Constitutional Court to give an estimation to the actions of the local judicial organs in respect of Gagauz Parliamentarians; to amend the Fundamental Law of Gagauzia (Gagauz-Eri) by replacing the amorphous notion of the "autonomous territorial unit of Gagauzia (Gagauz-Eri)" for the Republic of Gagauzia (Gagauz-Eri) and to approve the Fundamental Law of Gagauzia by a universal referendum.
They also demanded the resignation of Gagauzia's Prosecutor, who shields his relatives and the corrupted Communists and who lost in this way confidence on the part of the National Assembly members and on the part of the citizens of the autonomy.
The participants in the meeting insist on amending the Law on Parties and Other Public Political Associations to give Gagauzia the right to have its own regional Party, on the proportional representation quota of the Gagauz Parliamentarians in the Moldovan Parliament, elected on the basis of one-mandate constituencies.
"If the central authorities ignore the lawful rights of the Gagauz people, the demonstrators propose to conduct an Extraordinary Congress of the Gagauz People's representatives.

Circa 2 mii de locuitori ai Gagauziei, reprezentanti ai partidelor si miscarilor de opozitie din R.Moldova, au participat, simbata, la un miting de protest fata de imixtiunea autoritatilor centrale in activitatea Adunarii Populare a Gagauziei (APG). Actiunea a avut loc in centrul Comratului si a fost initiata de catre miscarea "Edinaia Gagauzia".
Demonstrantii purtau lozinci pe care scria "Nu discriminarii poporului gagauz!", "Comunistii pun interesele partidului mai presus decit interesele poporului", "Sustinem unirea patriotilor gagauziei". Ei au adoptat o rezolutie in care i-au indemnat pe locuitorii autonomiei sa se uneasca in jurul autoritatilor popular-democrate in exercitiu.
Manifestantii au hotarit sa ceara Curtii Constitutionale sa aprecieze actiunile autoritatilor locale in raport cu deputatii APG; sa modifice statutul (legea fundamentala) a Gagauziei (Gagauz Yeri), inlocuind notiunea amorfa de "unitate teritorial-administrativa Gagauzia" in "Republica Gagauzia" (Gagauz Yeri) si sa adopte statutul Gagauziei intr-un referendum al intregului popor. Printre alte revendicari se mai numara demiterea procurorilor Gagauziei, care "isi acopera rudele" si a activistii din Partidul Comunistilor, "care s-au compromis prin furturi si astfel au pierdut increderea deputatilor APG si a locuitorilor autonomiei".
Participantii la miting au insistat asupra modificarii si completarii legii cu privire la partide si alte formatiuni social-politice, care acorda Gagauziei dreptul la partide regionale proprii, proportional cu cota de reprezentanta a deputatilor pentru Gagauzia in Parlamentul Republicii Moldova, alesi in circumscriptii uninominale. Manifestantii au propus ca, in cazul in care autoritatile centrale vor ignora "drepturile legitime ale poporului Gagauziei", sa fie organizat un congres extraordinar al reprezentantilor poporului gagauz.

Около 2 тыс. жителей Гагаузии, представителей оппозиционных партий и движений Молдовы приняли участие в митинге протеста против вмешательства центральных властей в деятельность Народного собрания (НСГ) в субботу в центре Комрата. Его инициатором выступило движение "Единая Гагаузия".
Mанифестанты держали в руках лозунги "Нет - дискриминации гагаузского народа!", "Коммунисты ставят интересы партии выше интересов народа", "Поддерживаем объединение патриотов Гагаузии".
На митинге принята резолюция с призывом жителей автономии сплотиться вокруг действующей народно-демократической власти.
Манифестанты, в частности, решили обратиться в Конституционный суд с требованием дать оценку конституционности действий местных судебных органов в отношении депутатов НСГ; внести изменения в Уложение (Основной Закон) Гагаузии (Гагауз Ери), заменив аморфное понятие "автономно-территориальное образование Гагаузия (Гагауз Ери)" на - "Республика Гагаузия (Гагауз Ери)" и принять Уложение Гагаузии на всенародном референдуме.
Среди требований - "отправить в отставку прокурора Гагаузии, прикрывающего своих родственников и проворовавшихся деятелей партии коммунистов, утратившего доверие, как депутатов Народного Собрания, так и жителей автономии".
Участники митинга настаивают на внесении изменений и дополнений в Закон "О партиях и других общественно-политических объединениях", дающих право Гагаузии иметь свои региональные партии, пропорциональной квоте представительства депутатов от Гагаузии в парламенте РМ, избираемых по одномандатным округам.
"В случае игнорирования центральными органами власти законных прав народа Гагаузии", манифестанты предлагают "провести Чрезвычайный съезд представителей гагаузского народа".
